GA crawls out of the dark ages
    An historic occasion!
Yesterday, November 20, 2011, alcohol was for sale on Sunday in Georgia.

I bought beer and rum. Sacrelicious!

    cuban breakfast of champions
Cubans from Kool Korners, sans salad, kept quite well in the freezer.

We had them for breakfast today. Added some La Lechonera mojo criollo, heated them in the panini press, and added some fresh plants (lettuce, tomato, onion, jalapeno). Very tasty.
Just realized I forgot to add the mayo and mustard...I'll get that next time; we still have 2 more in the freezer.

    The Muslims are Coming
Attended The Muslims are Coming comedy tour with DV on Tues night.
As comedians will do, a show of hands for various religions happened; we represented the token atheists and got some attention from stage.
I thought it was a good show. Tickets were free, and cameras were everywhere. They're planning to put the tour into DVD format at some point. I hope they make it.

    still not british
Not going to bother catching a big fireworks show this year. Too much hassle, and completely exhausted. The job is trying to kill me, and so far it's winning.

Netflix - your new interface sucks
    It's full of errors.
I can't add to my queue without waiting for a popup...which sometimes never pops up.
It won't even let me add a DVD (I'm already paying for this).
Give me the old interface back, please. Jerks.

Mr. Plumber and the Joy of Home Ownership
Water heater died, due to defective regulator valve in the wall. The house was at about 120 PSI, and it should be below 70.
That's fixed now. Got that and a new water heater for < $1200, in about 3 hours.
(CoolRay and Mr. Plumber are now corporately intertwined)

Sadly, because the regulator is working now, the awesome water pressure I've been enjoying through the years is now about half of what it was. How ever will I strip my flesh of it's outer layer? Turpentine perhaps.

18,500 miles, and already I have to switch to high-test* to fix the 'valve rattle' when I gun it.
    I think maybe I didn't buy a sport-bike.

    Warehouse 13 Killer Artifacts
These are the T-shirts that Claudia gave as gifts in the Crimbo episode:
    • Telegraph from Telegraph Island (drove Pete insane)
    • Man Ray's Camera (sucked the youth out of Myka)
    • Mata Hari's Stockings (captivated Artie)
    • Rheticus' Compass (trapped Joshua)
    • Godfrid's Spoon (nearly offed Claudia)
    • Pearl of Wisdom (mind controlled Lena)

Looks like they're for sale now, too.

    Giant CRT died last week.
Just got one of these to replace it: Sharp LC42SB48UT 42" 1080P LCD Flat Panel Television.
    Yay.

Update 12/9: Arrived today, with a broken screen. UPS should be picking it up next Monday for an exchange.
    Boo.

Update 12/19: PC Richard finally shipped the replacement today. UPS is obviously the slow link in this chain; they'd better not fuck up the new one.

Update 12/23: It got here yesterday. It is not broken this time. It's really bright and awesome. HDMI connection goes black sometimes but comes back if I hit pause (netflix/roku).
Learned that if there's no component input to my receiver, there's no component output either; so there's just a single RCA cord going from it to the TV.

    encrypt!
2 programs for Android phones from Whisper Systems:
RedPhone: Encrypted calls to other RedPhone users, via 3G or WiFi. Haven't used successfully yet; let me know if you want to test it!
TextSecure: Encrypts SMS once it hits your phone, and provides end-to-end secure communication with other TextSecure users. I had to uninstall because it broke MobileDefense, but that's the only reason.

    For computers:
TrueCrypt: The 800lb gorilla of cross-platform encryption, from whole-disk to hidden volumes, Lifehacker readers love this one.
HTTPS Everywhere: Firefox plugin to use secure connections whenever possible. From the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Your ISP is listening in; make it harder for them.

Oh no! I just killed my Coffee Pixie mug!
(headphones cable caught on my chair, havoc wreaked)
I'm not low on mugs or anything, but this is still a very sad thing. It must be replaced.

    Safe travel, good people
Last night was a farewell to our new Googly family, as they head off to the land of Schwarzenegger.
Also a farewell to NYD, who was in town briefly for the wedding last weekend. He's off to the great white north again today.
(there was a wedding last weekend, too)

Be well, our absent friends. Don't forget to visit now and then; I'll try to do the same.

Why is the Rum always gone?
El Dorado Demerara really is quite nice for a $20 bottle.

For now, the rum is not gone. Win.
